To You

After much writing, rewriting, overthinking, throwing things, and maybe even a little cussing, I found that everything I’d been trying to say (in a thousand words or more) had already been said much more perfectly (and succinctly) by someone else.  I hope you do not think me disingenuous for offering you someone else’s words and thoughts, but I cannot express them any better.

Without further adieu—

“May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness.  I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful, and don’t forget to make some art—write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can.  And I hope somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.”  —Neil Gaiman

May you live with yesterday over your shoulder and not look backward too long; there’s too much to see waiting in front of you. —Jimmy Buffett, from “Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes”

May you “think again of…noble things…be light and frolicsome…improbable and beautiful…afraid of nothing, as though [you have] wings.” —Mary Oliver

May you know that “there are [D]ivine things more beautiful than words can tell.”

—Walt Whitman

May “the Lord bless you and keep you…make His face shine on you and gracious to you…turn His face toward you and give you peace.”  —Numbers 6:24-26

And one of my own….

May. You. Yawp!
